System requirements
Before installing GFI WebMonitor, ensure the system meets or exceeds the below requirements. If these requirements are not met, you may encounter problems during installation or in functionality.

Supported backend database
GFI WebMonitor uses a backend database to store historical data that is used for reporting. GFI WebMonitor may have one of the backend databases listed below.

Supported Internet browsers
Any client browser that supports proxy settings can be used to browse the Internet. However, to display block / warn messages properly, one of the above browsers is required.

Install GFI WebMonitor on a server with the following minimum specifications.

NOTE
Allocation of hard disk space depends on your environment. The size specified in the requirements is the minimum required to install and use GFI WebMonitor. The recommended size is between 150 and 250GB.

GFI WebMonitor Agent System Requirements
The GFI WebMonitor Agent is a small footprint version of GFI WebMonitor. It can be deployed on portable computers (as a service) to apply web filtering policies when the machine is disconnected from the corporate network.

Backup software
Backup software can cause GFI WebMonitor to malfunction if GFI WebMonitor is denied access to some of its files.
Backup GFI WebMonitor installation files only when GFI WebMonitor services are not running. From the Services applet, stop the following services before taking a backup:
- GFI Proxy
- GFI WebMonitor Core Service
Anti-virus software
Anti-virusSoftware that detects viruses on a computer. software causes GFI WebMonitor to malfunction if GFI WebMonitor is denied access to some of its files. Add an anti-virus exclusion that prevents the anti-virus engine from scanning the GFI WebMonitor installation folder.

Configure your firewall to allow connections from GFI WebMonitor server on the following ports:
