Installation fails with an error
Issue encountered
The GFI OneConnect installation cannot be completed and displays one of following errors:
- Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
- Could not start the Windows Installer service on Local Computer. Access is denied.
- The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.
Possible causes
- Third-party software may be interfering with GFI OneConnect installation files.
- The user running the installer does not have permission for the operation.
Possible solutions
- Log in to the machine using an account with the necessary permissions. For more information refer to Service account permissions.
- Disable real-time scanning of anti-virus products or any other software scanning your machine.
- Right-click the GFI OneConnect installer and choose Properties. From the General tab, click Unblock and then Apply. This step is required to prevent the operating system from blocking certain actions by the installer. Re-run the installer and check if the issue persists.
- Ensure that you do not have any software that automatically removes files from the
temp
directory.
