Step 1: Configure SMTP relaying to forward emails to Office 365

Use the Microsoft® IISInternet Information Services SMTPSimple Mail Transport Protocol service installed on the GFI FaxMaker server as a relay between GFI FaxMaker and Microsoft® Office 365. When GFI FaxMaker sends emails to your users, for example when sending system notifications, it submits the email to this IIS SMTP server which in turn submits the email to Office 365 using TLS encryption.

Configure a new virtual SMTP server on your IIS SMTP server to forward emails to smtp.office365.com over port 587 and TLS encryption. For more information about how to do this refer to https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn592151%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx

Step 2: Install GFI FaxMaker and set Email2FaxGateway settings

Install GFI FaxMaker on a machine that meets or exceeds the GFI FaxMaker system requirements. For more information refer to System Requirements.

Launch the GFI FaxMaker installer and follow the wizard to complete installation. For more information refer to Installation procedure.

On install completion, the installer automatically launches the Configuration Wizard that assists you through the basic steps of configuration. Configure the following wizard steps:

  1. In the Configuration Wizard welcome screen click Next.
  2. Choose My email server will forward faxes and SMSs to this GFI FaxMaker machine. Click Next.
  1. Configure the mail server settings in GFI FaxMaker to send emails using the IIS SMTP server configured previously in Step 1: Configure SMTP relaying to forward emails to Office 365.

NOTE

If GFI FaxMaker is already installed, configure the above mail server details from GFI FaxMaker Configuration > Email2FaxGateway.

  1. Proceed with wizard to finalize configuration. For more information refer to Run the GFI FaxMaker Configuration Wizard.
