Resolving a file conflict

When two users have access to a folder located in a shared mailbox and are updating the same file simultaneously, File Archive Assistant detects a conflict when trying to synchronize the saved file.

Each user is alerted of the conflict in the Summary screen. To resolve a conflict, perform the following action:

  1. Double-click the File Archive Assistant icon in the system tray.
  2. Click the Summary tab.
  3. In the Conflict Status field, click Resolve Conflict.
  4. In the Resolve Conflicts window, perform any of the following options:
Option Description
Filename Click the file name to open the file that is stored locally on your machine.
Server Copy Click Open theirs to open the file on the GFI Archiver server. This file has _theirs after the file name.
Action
  • Keep Mine - Click this option to keep your local file and delete the file with the extension _theirs. A message box is shown to confirm your action. On next synchronization the file is deleted from the server.
  • Keep Theirs - Click to keep the server copy and delete the local copy. A message box is shown to confirm your action. The kept file is renamed to its original name.
