Adding users one-by-one

NOTE

Only users that have been granted full account access can manage users or groups. To grant these permissions, add users to the GFI Administrators group.

Follow the add user wizard to add one new user at a time:

  1. From the GFI Directory console, go to Manage > Users.
  2. Click Add User.
  3. In the Create User tab, use the User details dialog to specify the basic options of a user:
Option Description
First name Key in the user's first name.
Last name Key in the user's surname.
Display name

The user's Display name is used to identify respective users by other GFI Software Ltd products that are integrated with GFI Directory. The Display name is automatically populated when keying in the First name and Last name but can be changed as desired.

Username

The username is used by the user to log in GFI Directory and in other GFI Software Ltd applications.

Email Key in the user's email address and click Add Email. This field supports multiple entries.
Description User's description, such as role or position within the organization.
Group

Specify a group for the selected user. A user can be a member of many groups.

  1. Click Next.
  2. In the Contact Information dialog, specify the following optional details:
Option Description
Address User's home address.
Company The name of the organization or business.
Department Select to which department the user belongs.
Phone Personal telephone number.
Mobile Mobile number.
Fax Fax number.
Office Work telephone number.
  1. Click Next.
  2. In the Security Settings dialog, key in the following: 
Option Description
Password Enter user account password. Password should be easy to remember, but difficult to guess. Use a combination of upper and lowercase as well as symbols and numbers.
Password confirmation Re-enter the same password to confirm.
Password never expires When selected, the user password does not need to be changed and never expires. This is the least secure option. Use only when required.
User must change password on login When selected, the user is requested to change his login password the first time he logs in to GFI Directory or in other GFI Software Ltd applications (recommended).
  1. Click Finish to create the user.
