Before installing GFI Directory, ensure that the system meets or exceeds the below requirements. If these requirements are not met, you may encounter problems during installation or in functionality.

Backup software
Backup software can cause GFI Directory to malfunction if GFI Directory is denied access to some of its files.
Backup GFI Directory installation files only when GFI Directory services are not running. From the Services applet, stop the following services:
- GFI Directory Services
- GFI Directory DataStore
Anti-virus software
Anti-virus software causes GFI Directory to malfunction if GFI Directory is denied access to some of its files. Add an anti-virus exclusion that prevents the anti-virus engine from scanning the GFI Directory installation folder.
Firewall settings
Configure your firewall to allow connections from the GFI Directory server on the following ports:
