Configuring POP3 connection
Kerio Connect can retrieve messages from remote mailboxes via POP3Post Office Protocol 3 - A protocol used by local email clients to retrieve emails from mailboxes over a TCP/IP connection.. The retrieval is triggered by a scheduled action, and the downloaded messages are processed by sorting rules.
Defining remote mailboxes
- In the administration interface, go to Configuration > Delivery > tab POP3 Download.
- In the Accounts section, click Add.
- On the General tab, type the name of the POP3 server, and username and password of the POP3 account.
NOTE
The password length is max. 119 characters.
Kerio Connect can:
- deliver the messages to a specific address, or
- use predefined sorting rules
- On the Advanced tab, you can:
- require secure connection for POP3 download,
- set download limits per session,
- set retention policy.
- Click OK.
Sorting rules
Sorting rules define how Kerio Connect delivers messages downloaded from a remote POP3 mailbox. You can deliver messages to specific users, or forward messages to an email address.
- In the administration interface, go to Configuration > Delivery > tab POP3 Download.
- In section Sorting rules, click Add.
- Type the Sort address — the email address according to which messages will be sorted.
- Type the delivery address — an external address or Select an address form the Kerio Connect server.
- Click OK.
Special sorting rules
* > admin@example.com
Kerio Connect delivers all messages not complying to any rule to the defined email address. Without this rule, such messages are discarded.
*@example.com > *@example.com
Kerio Connect sorts messages according to the email addresses and aliases.
