Importing appliance configuration
Although not compulsory, it is highly recommended that you import the available appliance configuration into the tenant librarythe Exinda repository for network objects and their definitions to reduce redundancy and avoid re-programming the same configuration in the EMCExinda Management Center, SaaS service to centrally monitor and configure multiple Exinda appliances. The configuration import is not required if the appliance is new and does not contain any configuration.
NOTE
Importing configuration is optional, but if an appliance has already been in use, its configuration can be applied globally across all other appliances instead of configuring the appliances individually.
Follow these steps to import configuration into a tenant:
When importing the configuration from an appliance, you work your way through a wizard that allows you to select the configuration items you need to import. There are eight classes of configuration that you can import, with each offering the configuration items that already exist on the appliance.
- Go to Configured Appliances > Appliances.
- Select an appliance and click Import Configuration.
Importing network objects
To import your network objects:
- Click Import Network Objects, or click Next to skip this step.
NOTE
If any network objects already exist in the library, a green checkmark appears in front of it. Once used, you will not be able reuse it.
- Click Add Selected Network Objects to the Library.
Importing applications
To import any applications that exist in the configuration of the appliance:
- Click Import Applications, or click Next to skip this step.
- Use check-boxes to select the applications you need to import.
- Click Add Selected Application to Library.
- Click Next.
Importing schedules
To import any schedules that exist in the configuration of the appliance:
- Click Import Schedules, or click Next to skip this step.
- Use check-boxes to select the schedules you need to import.
- Click Add Selected Schedules to Library.
- Click Next.
Importing VLANs
To import any VLANs that exist in the configuration of the appliance:
- Click Import VLANs, or click Next to skip this step.
- Use check-boxes to select the VLANs you need to import.
- Click Add Selected VLANs to Library.
- Click Next.
Importing circuits
To import any circuits that exist in the configuration of the appliance:
- Click Import Circuits, or click Next to skip this step.
- Use check-boxes to select the circuits you need to import.
- Click Add Selected Circuits to Library.
- Click Next.
Importing virtual circuits
To import any virtual circuits that exist in the configuration of the appliance:
- Click Import Virtual Circuits, or click Next to skip this step.
- Use check-boxes to select the virtual circuits you need to import.
- Click Add Selected Virtual Circuits to Library.
- Click Next.
Importing policies
To import any policies that exist in the configuration of the appliance:
- Click Import Policies, or click Next to skip this step.
- Use check-boxes to select the virtual circuits you need to import.
- Click Add Selected Polices to Library.
- Click Next.
- Click Import Policies to import the current policies from the appliance.
NOTE
EMC does not import policies that already exist in library or policies linked to a network objecta logical definition created and stored in the Exinda lilbrary, can represent any network component that does not exist in the library. Hover over the error icon to see the related error message.
- Click Add Selected Policies to the Library to successfully add selected policies into the library:
Importing service level agreements
To import any service level agreements that exist in the configuration of the appliance:
- Click Import Service Level Agreements, or click Next to skip this step.
- Use check-boxes to select the virtual circuits you need to import.
- Click Add Selected Service Level Agreements to Library.
- Click Close.
For each of these classes, you can select from the configuration items that exist, or you can skip to the next class. The process of importing each of the configuration classes is the same.
- In the wizard. click the Import <configuration class> button. For the configuration class, if there are existing configuration items, they appear in a grid
- If configuration items do not exist in the tenant library, select their check-boxes and click Add Selected <configuration items> to the Library.
NOTE
If configuration items already exist in the tenant library, a green check mark appears before the configuration item name. You cannot use the same configuration item again.
- Click Next to move on to the next configuration class.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each configuration class.
- At the end of the wizard, click Close.
